I’m lucky to call Jasper National Park home. I’ve always had a passion for travel and photography, driven by the curiosity that every traveler knows. After a career in hospitality, my favorite part of any trip is still meeting the locals. This website is my way of introducing you to the people and places that make Jasper so special.

Through the Lens: Jasper Before and After the Flames

Two photographs. Two moments in time. One mountain town that refuses to give up.

The image from 2025 was captured by Tommy K. —a stark portrait of Jasper in the aftermath of the devastating wildfire that swept through in 2024. Charred slopes. Quiet streets. A community catching its breath.

The photograph from 2011, taken by Eddie W. , shows a different world. Lush forests. Unbroken skies. The Jasper so many of us remember and are working to see again.

The Long Road Back

Recovery doesn't happen overnight. The cleanup alone stretched on for months—heavy machinery, quiet determination, and the slow, painstaking work of clearing what the fire left behind. Even now, in 2026, the work continues.

But there is hope on the horizon.

New builds are finally underway, rising from the ash like quiet promises. Framing goes up. Foundations are poured. And while some families still call temporary housing home—waiting, watching, believing—the first walls of a rebuilt Jasper are standing tall.

A Lifetime of Frames

I've been pointing my lens at these mountains for decades. I've watched them change with the seasons, the years, the storms. And now, through the fire.

If you'd like to see more before-and-after shots—glimpses of this place I've called home through good times and hard ones—drop me a note on our contact page. I'd be honored to share them with you.
