What I'll miss most about working is the rhythm of it all—those everyday rituals, whether it was greeting visitors at the river or elbow-deep in some project alongside coworkers. There's something about that shared chaos that you just can't replicate.
Here's the thing about retirement that nobody tells you: Is it supposed to mean more rest or more busy? Because somehow, I'm finding there aren't enough hours in the day. Which honestly makes me wonder—how on earth did I juggle multiple jobs back in the day?

Looking back at the path that got me here: Room Service Attendant, Restaurant Manager, Car Wash Attendant, Bus Driver, Raft Guide, Computer Sales/Repairs (my own shop, Digital Den), Web Developer (Jasper Web Design), Ski Instructor, Raft Guide (again—some things are worth doing twice), Ski Coach, Rafting Operations Manager. Quite the patchwork, isn't it?
That last chapter—a decade of coaching and managing a raft company—has been something special. Watching young athletes and local staff grow up right before my eyes, in this town that's become home. Can't put a price on that.
So far? I'm managing. Everyone asks the same question: "How's retirement?" And you know what? I honestly couldn't tell you. I haven't stopped long enough to figure it out. Can't sit still—always hunting for the next project, which is exactly why this website and blog exist.
Now the real question: Will anyone actually read this? Or am I just shouting into the void? Drop me a line and let me know. And if you're wondering—yes, I'll still miss those workday rhythms. But I've also reconnected with family in ways I didn't expect, and somehow keep adding new friends to the mix. Not a bad trade-off.
